Privacy and cookie statement
In this privacy and cookie statement, you can read how and why we process personal data. We respect your privacy and ensure, within the applicable legal frameworks, that personal information provided to us or otherwise obtained by us is treated confidentially.
Personal data encompasses all information relating to a person. Data that indirectly reveals something about an individual also constitutes personal data.
The following gives effect to the obligation under the GDPR to inform the data subjects whose personal data we process.
Data controller and contact
We are the Partnership Liaise Advocaten and we process personal data in order to provide services, to improve our service delivery, to communicate with you, and for marketing purposes.

Personal data we process
In the context of our services, we may process the following personal data:
- contact information: name, (postal/email) address, telephone number, Chamber of Commerce number, VAT number, bank account number, website, email address, and other business and contact details;
- correspondence: letters, email messages, telephone communications;
- matter information: information about our legal services and factual, legal, and other information relating to the substance of a case (which, for the avoidance of doubt, encompasses the entirety of our service delivery);
- client information: information about you or your business;
- billing information: data for the purpose of calculating and recording fees and disbursements, making payments, and collecting outstanding invoices.
We process the above personal data where it has been provided to us by you, obtained by us in the course of providing our services, disclosed to us by third parties such as opposing parties, or made available through public sources.
If you complete the contact form on our website, we process the following personal data:
- name and email address;
- the message you send us via the contact form.
Purposes for which we process personal data
We process the personal data mentioned above for the following purposes:
- entering into a client relationship;
- providing our legal services, including giving advice and conducting (court) proceedings;
- referral and mediation;
- making and receiving payments and collecting invoices;
- complying with our obligations under legislation or the rules of our profession;
- marketing and communications activities;
- recruitment and selection (job applications).
Legal bases for processing personal data
We process the personal data mentioned above on the following legal bases:
- the processing is necessary for the performance of the agreement with our clients and for accounting for the manner in which we have performed those agreements;
- the processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation;
- the processing is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interests or those of a third party.
Cookies
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to track how users interact with our website. Cookies are placed for this purpose. Google uses this information to monitor how our website is used and to provide us with reports about the website. We have configured Google Analytics with privacy in mind. Among other measures, the IP address is pseudonymised before it is transmitted to Google. We have also entered into a data processing agreement with Google, under which Google is not permitted to share this data with third parties or to use it for other Google services. The maximum retention period for the cookies placed through this service has been set by us at fourteen months. This means that after this period has elapsed, the data can no longer be read. The processing of your personal data via Google Analytics is based on our legitimate interest in obtaining general statistics about visitors to our website.

Is your data shared with other parties?
We share your personal data with third parties to the extent necessary for our service delivery and in accordance with the purposes set out above. Examples include sharing for the purpose of obtaining an expert opinion, for use in (court) proceedings, for correspondence with the (opposing) party or third parties, and/or for the collection of an outstanding invoice.
We may also provide your personal data to a third party, such as a supervisory authority or another body vested with public authority, where there is a legal obligation to do so.
A data processing agreement is concluded with any third party that processes your personal data on our behalf and at our instruction.
How long do we retain your personal data?
We do not retain your personal data for longer than is permitted or required by law. This means, amongst other things, that we will not retain your personal data for longer than the statutory period and/or for longer than is necessary for the purpose for which it is held.
Security of your data
We have taken appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss and against use that is contrary to privacy regulations. We continually keep ourselves informed of current developments in the technical security of personal data and will take all legally required security measures to prevent personal data from being lost or used unlawfully.
Your rights
You may request:
- access to the personal data we hold about you;
- the rectification or completion of your personal data if you believe that the personal data we hold about you is incomplete or inaccurate;
- the erasure of certain personal data;
- the transfer of your data to another party.
You may also object to the processing of your personal data.
For further information about the rights you may exercise under data protection legislation, we refer you to the website of the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens). You also have the right, where applicable, to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

We reserve the right to make changes to this privacy statement. We recommend consulting the most recent version of our privacy statement on a regular basis so that you remain informed of any changes.
