Jaap Versteeg

Jaap acts extensively for clients in the creative industries, including music, television/streaming/film, events, theatre, art and culture. He advises and litigates in the fields of intellectual property law, music law, unlawful publications, contract law and employment law.
As a lawyer, Jaap is clear and involved. He keeps a sharp eye on legal, commercial, PR or communications risks. He flags these to his clients in good time, so that problems do not escalate or, if they do, remain manageable. He is always available to his clients and acts quickly.
He works for music publishers, record labels, event companies, theatre producers, museums and other cultural institutions. He also assists art dealers, galleries and artists.
Jaap also guides media talent, including presenters, musicians, writers, composers and other creative personalities. He has assisted many of them in contract negotiations for years.
He thinks along with his clients commercially, strategically and legally alike. Jaap is second to none when it comes to clearly analysing complex situations.
Additional activities
Jaap is a member of the Association for Art, Culture and Law, the Copyright Association, the Association for Media and Communications Law and the Benelux Association for Trade Mark and Design Law.
In addition, Jaap has held supervisory positions for various cultural festivals and orchestras and taught law at the Academy for Dance and Theatre.
